About Us

I graduated from high school as Dux and went on to obtain a Bachelor of Science Degree at Auckland University majoring in Applied Mathematics and Physics.

This led to a career start as an Industrial Engineer at Ford Motor Company, and then Alex Harvey Industries Ltd in NZ setting out production lines, optimizing throughput, and resolving staffing and production problems. This led to a permanent move to Dunedin with my wife Wendy where we raised our 2 children and assisted them through University.

In Dunedin I was part owner and CEO of a large company manufacturing refrigerated shipping containers and truck bodies which were sold locally and overseas to our own design. At its peak we had 5 factories and won the Governor General’s Award for exporting.

I’ve had a lifelong interest in real estate and over the years have owned and developed many residential and commercial properties.

In the mid 1980’s I left manufacturing and went out on my own designing and building upmarket but affordable homes in Dunedin for specific clients.

From this work I noticed that many individuals had no clear strategy on how to work towards their retirement goals and did not understand the principles of making money work for them. This led to Wendy and I starting a new business focused totally on helping NZ families understand finances and helping them with the step by step process of reaching their lifestyle goals. I organized all of their finances, risk protection insurances and located and approved their investment property purchases.

In the early 2000’s I stopped building homes, bought some farmland near Owaka and developed this into a very productive stud angus and sheep property. This has since been sold but I retain a passion for working with farmers to see how they can better utilize their land to become more profitable, sustainable, and lower their risks. There is a strong correlation between soil health and all these other factors that in the past has been poorly promoted.

I now also own and manage The Electric Motor Vehicle Company Ltd operating out of the same building as The Brokers. We are involved in electrifying the transport fleet and sell EVs, E – Bikes, and farm utility vehicles.
